THE SOUL SIDE OF POP…

“Soulful, effortless, what a voice!”
Adam Walton, BBC Introducing

Sarah Brown is a bluesy pop singer and songwriter based in Cardiff, UK.

Drawing influence from vocal powerhouses such as Etta James, Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera, Sarah has a huge voice with a performance to match. Her songwriting sees raw, emotive lyrics over melodies that you just can’t get out of your head.

Turning a failed relationship into a successful career, one song at a time…

Sarah stormed onto the scene in 2017 with debut single ‘Nobodys Home’. The self-penned introduction tells the story (from personal experience) of a broken relationship, with a soaring vocal over a funky RnB groove. The track made the iTunes top 200 pop chart on pre-orders alone and was playlisted on the BBC Radio Wales A-List for four consecutive weeks, with rave reviews from Music Crowns, Buzz Magazine, South Wales Argus and Cardiff NOW.

“The soulful new cut packs a solid punch with its catchy guitar hooks, funky bass lines and fiery attitude” – MUSIC CROWNS

Fresh from supporting 90’s band Toploader at their recent South Wales show, Sarah releases her fiery follow up single ‘Living In Sin’ on 7th September 2018. Packed with an edgy guitar riff and Sarah’s trademark powerful vocal, the story continues over eerie twists and turns and a chorus that you won’t forget.

THE BACKSTORY

Penning her first song at age 9 (it was a Christmas song and she will sing it for you upon request) Sarah was destined for a career in music. Born to a guitar playing father and a self professed ‘tone deaf but enthusiastic’ mother, music was a centre piece in the house.

In fact, it was her brother who taught her to play the Ukulele and in 2015, Sarah posted a video of herself playing and singing Blackstreets “No Diggity”. The video amassed over 200,000 hits on Facebook and 60,000 on YouTube, gaining her a substantial social media following and firmly establishing her place in the local music scene.

“It all started with that video. Suddenly people were booking me to sing at their events”

Having dabbled in various ‘real jobs’ over the years (Sarah is a part qualified accountant amongst other things) the music never went away and with so much support from her new social media tribe, Sarah decided to quit it all and follow her biggest passion.

“I read a quote around the time of the ‘No Diggity’ thing that said “It’s never too late to be who you could have been” and this really hit me… I want to be a successful artist, inspire others to follow their dreams and to share my songs with the world… so here I am!”
